Brexit: coming to a city near you? Not yet

Just when we were starting to forget about Brexit, Boris Johsnon came out with a deal to be  presented to the EU right on time for Octobers deadline. Has this sudden move been precipitated by Trumps reaction following the Turkish offensive in Syria? Why is it that this proposed deal was not delivered to the EU earlier?

International relations affecting regional decision?

Earlier last week, Turkey launched attacks on Syrians region dominated by the Kurdh. The Kurdish forces are known to be US allies, as they fight together on the ground and have their protection. However when asked about the attack Trump did not seem that  concerned and instead made a reference to the disemberkment of Normandy, saying that there were not there.

The absences of reaction from the United States in that situation plus the national impeachment campaign against Trump are two factors that could have influenced Boris Johnson to act quickly as he realized that the US might not be a reliable ally. Another explanation could be that seeing that a no deal was not possible since it was rejected by Parliament earlier, the PM had now just enough time to prepare an actual proposal and present it on time to the EU avoiding another backlash.

Boris proposes, Parliament disposes

Now that the bill has been approved by the 27, the critical part will be played by the lawmakers in Westminster. Just like Teresa May, Johnson has got the approval of the EU and now has to face the UK Parliament. They refused three times the bill presented by the former PM, will it be different this time?

In Ireland, people have been voicing their discontent regarding the new border with Northern Ireland that will result from this plan, and MP Jeremy Corbyn seemed unimpressed by mister Johnsons proposal.
